When I received the email I initially didn't pay much attention but in the process of opening some other emails I clicked on it by chance or possibly luck. This four day festival was most fulfilling and I could adjust my time easily. I have always admired French cinema as they bring elegance class and each film touches a cord in ones’ heart.
The first film of this tiny festival was Populaire. Actually I thought the director was aiming to make more of a commercial film as opposed to an intellectual one. The motion picture was a collage of so many films worldwide.

POPULAIRE
The scene opens in a small town where life is running at a slow pace and this shopkeeper’s daughter Rose dreams of escaping to make a new life as a secretary in a big city. So she travels and goes for an interview for a secretary job in order to fulfill her dream. She is interviewed by dashing confirmed bachelor Louis Echard but is not successful as she is slightly too naive and simple. However by chance Louis sees Rose’s typing and feels that she has an extraordinary talent. Louis an unsuccessful sportsman has found a protégé.
The obvious transformations were with lots of training, tears, frustrations, shouting romance and the end which is obvious.
The theme has been repeated continuously, with films such as Pygmalion, My fair Lady Etc. The film is uninteresting and has not much appeal; society has been exposed to such films time and time again.
Apologetically I would not recommend this film, it is catered for only the hard core cinematic bodies. It has all the basics of a less than substantial block buster and would be deemed pointless to most.
